Are my chances for getting into MIT ruined by a C in math? I am in high school and I hope to get into MIT. I've gotten mixed A's and B's in math throughout high school, but last semester I got a C. Does that ruin my chances? Higher Education (University +) - 5 Answers - 2008-07-13 12:12:16 Best Answer It's certainly not going to help, but a mixture of A's and B's may not give you the GPA you need anyway. But MIT is a technical college; if you're getting C's in math, I'm not sure why you want to go there. If your cumulative GPA is above a 3.75 then no. It means very little. What means more are your application, test scores, and interview. Schools like MIT are very strange with their acceptances. About 12 students from my class went there and honestly it depends on what they are looking for and what you have to offer. Very hard, dont get discouraged but be realistic. 2008-07-13 12:25:46 Answer 3 Yes, the Bs would have probably ended it. Typical MIT students could have taken linear algebra at a college while in 9th grade and gotten a A with citation. They are the champions of international math competitions. 2008-07-13 12:48:07 Answer 4 You will not be going to MIT. 2008-07-13 12:50:34 Answer 5 MIT is one of the hardest school to get into. A student at my daughter's HS graduated a valedictorian, was in band, won state awards for singing, awards in math and science, did community service and work part time. And he didn't get in. I believe only 13% of incoming freshman who apply get in. 2008-07-13 13:25:12 |
